HS Mothers Journal

The Homeschool Mother's Journal

In my life this week...

We celebrated JJ's 11th Birthday! He has grown so much in 4 short years.

In our homeschool this week...
We worked on the letters X,Y,and Z. We also did some more organizing to prepare for next year.

Places we're going and people we're seeing...
Heaven had her Gymnastics class on Thursday, my husband and I will be going to bingo today, and the kids will be spending time with Grandma.

My favorite thing this week was...
I'm going to say the ice cream cake we ordered for JJ's birthday was one of my favorite things this week. It was great. We also received TJ's Hands On Homeschooling in the mail.

What's working/not working for us...
We were finishing some of the letters early, then waiting a week for the next one. It wasn't working for us so once she learned a letter I started to go ahead with the next lesson. 7 months later and we our finished with the letters.

Homeschool questions/thoughts I have...
If you finish a lesson early, do you move on to the next or wait?

If we finish a lesson early we would probably just do the next one instead of waiting for the next week :)

Ice cream cake sounds yummy!

Hello,

Thank you so much for stopping by my site. I am following from the hop as well. I love the picture of JJ waiting to blow out the candles. It does not matter how old we are, blowing out the candles is fun. When we finish a lesson early, I sometimes move on, but it depends on what it is. If it is math, I leave it for next time. Reading I move on. Trying to find the right balance can be hard at times. I find that we finish fairly early. This is something I question frequently. Great site! I love it.

Ice cream cake is my fave :)

Happy birthday JJ!!
Sounds like you had a fun celebration- my kids love ice cream cake. Well they love any cake...period. Who doesn't? :)

I love that homeschooling allows us to work at our own pace. There have been times when we've plowed right through our lessons, if the kids were really learning and comprehending and others when we've had to slow down and take it down a notch. You'll discover what works for you and your children. We're constantly reviewing what works and what doesn't to hit that happy medium. Looks like you're having a great first year! :)
